While I understand the nicknames of the old JD's as Johnny Poppers, WHY are NH tractors nicknamed BOOMERS--does this apply to all Ford/NH tractors or just certain models?Mike S.

"bomer" means it is targeted at the baby boomers born after WWII ....

Terry--I knew that "boomer" is, in some circumstances, targeted at the baby boomers after WWII. However, this term must have some special relevance to NH/Ford tractors (or certain models) because I have observed horsepower ratings of "boomers" as mentioned in this forum and since I am a baby boomer, I never thought of myself having any horsepower:)Mike S. ....

Take a look at the folks NH uses as models in their "TC" brochure - it should (regretably) leave no doubt as to who they are aiming these machines at. ....

I had a NH-Kubota dealer tell me that all compact tractors were marketed "towards women". I have a red F series and a 1630 Boomer just like the picture in the new TC information! I guess the marketing folks have their target market down.Markps- My boomer is over two years old with NO major problems! ....
